How it Started: Our Timeline
It all began with a vision to diversify and elevate coffee production in Malawi, blending tradition with innovation for a thriving future.
~ 2015 ~
"The Beginning"
Land was purchased in the Perekezi highlands, an area bordering both Nkhatabay and Mzuzu in the Northern region of Malawi. Known for its rich, fertile soil and ideal climate conditions, the region offers a unique microclimate for cultivating high-quality coffee. Its proximity to the Viphya Forest Reserve also contributes to sustainable farming practices by supporting soil moisture retention and biodiversity.
~ 2020 ~
First Harvest
In this year, Perekezi saw its first harvest in 2020, producing about 17 tons of coffee. It has since been progressively expanding its cultivation area, improving processing techniques, and increasing yield quality to meet growing market demands.
~ 2021 ~
Becoming "Offical"
This year, Perekezi expanded its offerings by introducing both green bean and roasted coffee, catering to a wider range of customer preferences. The addition of roasted coffee allows the company to engage directly with end consumers, while the green bean sales target wholesalers, roasters, and specialty coffee markets. This strategic move not only broadens their market reach but also enhances flexibility in responding to changing consumer trends and demand for premium coffee product.
